The complete collection of C.P.E. Bach's symphonies by the Berlin Academy of Ancient Music is now available! Concertmasters are Mayumi Hirasaki and Georg Kallweit! Here comes the final volume of C.P.E. Bach's complete symphony recordings, a longtime project by the Berlin Academy of Ancient Music! The concertmasters are Mayumi Hirasaki (marked with * in the track list) and Georg Kallweit (marked with + in the track list). Mayumi Hirasaki's "Biber: Rosary Sonata" (KKC6610) was specially selected in the February 2023 issue of Record-Geijutsu (Recorded Arts), and was selected by Yoshio Miyama in the third place in the music history category in the mook "Record-Geijutsu 2023 Sosatsu-kan" released in February 2024. Georg Kallweit has been the concertmaster of the Berlin Academy of Ancient Music for many years and is widely known for his music making. He was an important figure who paved the way for Haydn and Mozart with his freedom and originality.C.P.E. Bach's symphonies include 11 symphonies for orchestra and 8 symphonies for strings (including one string version of a symphony for orchestra). Previous recordings include Wq 183-2,183-3,182-2,182-6 on HMC901622; Wq 173,178,179 on HMG501711; Wq 175,183-4 on HMM902420; Wq 180,181 on HMM902601; Wq 173 on HMC902132; HMC Many of C.P.E. Bach's symphonies were written during his Berlin period (1738-68) and later at the beginning of his life in Hamburg (after 1768). Symphonies 174, 176, and 177 on this disc were all written in the mid-1750s, when C.P.E. was at the height of his creative powers. Even with the abilities of the Berlin Academy of Ancient Music, C.P.E. Bach's symphonies are said to be inventive and a great challenge. As one would expect, the contents of this concert offer an unparalleled opportunity to hear C.P.E.'s originality and creativity. Mayumi Hirasaki is the concertmaster for some of the pieces on this recording, and this marks the birth of an important recording that also reminds us of the generational change in the orchestra.
