Debussy (1862-1918)

Description:

Lotto & Les Siecle's "The Sea" Remastered and Reissued! The Sea", a masterpiece by Les Siecle and Debussy, performed by Lotto and a hand-picked period instrument orchestra, has been re-mastered and is now available on harmoniamundi. The Sea" has been re-mastered and is now available on the Harmoniamundi label. The Sea" is a recreation of the sound of the first performance of the piece in October 1905 by the Orchestre de la Conseil Lamoureux conducted by Chevillard. The strings are gut strings, the brass is fine brass, and the woodwinds and harp are made in France at that time, following the technique directly from the Paris Conservatory. The work is a work that is all about vibrato and tremolo, and because vibrato is kept to a minimum, the impression on the listener is quite different, almost like gagaku music. Although there are many great performances of this work, this is the disc with the greatest impact on the listener's eyes. Also noteworthy is the world premiere recording of Debussy's early work, "Orchestral Suite No. 1," written between 1882 and 1884, when Debussy was 20-22 years old and a student at the Paris Conservatory, and long thought lost. There are two versions, one for orchestra and the other for piano, the latter of which has already been recorded, but this is the first recording of the long-awaited orchestral version. Since the orchestral score for the third piece, "Dream," could not be found and other parts were incomplete, the contemporary French composer Philippe Manoury completed the work, and Lhoto and Les Siecle gave the world premiere in Paris on February 2, 2012.It is a large work that takes nearly 30 minutes to perform, but it is a charming work full of the naïve lyricism and humanistic melodies characteristic of Debussy's early works, and the influence of Wagner, whom the young Debussy admired, can be heard in the orchestra's sound, which is very interesting. It is no less attractive than the "Small Suite" and "Spring" from about the same period. King International
