Isabelle Faust and Lotto & Les Siecle, the miraculous collaboration of Isabelle Faust and Lotto & Les Siecle, representing the supreme Stravinsky Harmonia Mundi. The concerto is a Stravinsky piece that made Lotto and Siecle famous, so you can't take your eyes off of it. The main work is a violin concerto, but Faust plays the violin part in all the pieces in the recording, which is a superb surprise. She has also released an album mainly of "A Soldier's Tale" and is passionate about Stravinsky's violin works, but the string quartet works with gut strings are also of great interest. The Violin Concerto was written in 1931, during the neoclassical period. Stravinsky disliked the emotion and sweetness of the violin, but his encounter with Dushkin, a player of the same sensibility, did not change his beliefs and allowed him to realize the concerto. Faust himself pointed out its non-violin nature, but praised it as a musical expression that no one had ever thought of before. The performance exceeded expectations, and the combination of Faust's severe expression, Siecle's colorful tone, and Lotto's sharp rhythms created a world full of life.It is also evident that the members enjoy making music, including the final movement, which parodies Bach's Violin Double Concerto. For the coupling, Faust and Lotto performed "Apollo's Variation" for solo violin and string ensemble from the neoclassical ballet "Apollo Leading the Muse. In addition, Faust plays first violin and is joined by top Siecle string players in all of Stravinsky's string quartets: the "Three Pieces" immediately following the "Rite of Spring," the rather contemporary "Concertino," and the somber "Double Canon" in memory of the painter Raoul Dufoury. The sound world is full of tension, but never tasteless, and conveys Stravinsky's characteristic humor and vitality. This is an album that is sure to change your view of Stravinsky.
