Description:

The Ballets Russes" by Lhoto & Les Siecle, a 2-CD set that has shocked the world! Lotto & Les Siecle, who continue to shock the world with every CD release, are pleased to announce the release of two new albums [ASM-015 and KKC-5401, both out of print] containing their stunning masterpieces "The Rite of Spring" & "Petrouchka" (winner of the 2014 Record Academy Award) and "The Firebird" [ASM-06 and KKC-5195, both out of print]. album [ASM-06 and KKC-5195, both out of press], which includes "The Rite of Spring" and "Petrushka" [ASM-015 and KKC-5401, both out of press], are now reissued as a 2-CD set with a new look by the harmoniamundi label! The Rite of Spring" was premiered at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées on May 29, 1913, conducted by Montouteau, and became one of the biggest scandals in music history. Today, it is frequently performed as a popular piece and a good showcase for orchestral performance, but its complex modulations and impossible instrumentation have made it an impossible work for ancient instruments or conductors. Here, the sound of the bassoon (a 1900 Buffet Crampon basson) at the beginning of the piece is unknown and full of shock. The small French tuba and small trombone are also fresh, and the sound of the eight piston horns is unique. It is usually played with a heavy Russian sound, but this bright French tone is exactly what it sounded like when it was first performed. This is the sound of the first performance, and it is a revelation. The score of the 1913 version of "The Rite of Spring" in its original handwriting is in the possession of the Paul Sacher Foundation, but Lotto examined the score of the 1922 Russian Music Publishing House first edition and the early 1920s score in the Montoux collection, clarified the sound errors and Stravinsky's revisions, and attempted to reproduce the sound of the May 29, 1913 premiere. We have attempted to reproduce the sound of the first performance on May 29, 1913. Petrushka" is also from the 1911 version at the time of its premiere. The piano, which is supposed to play an active role in the concerto style, is not so prominent. Here, the Japanese Jean-Hissanori Sugitani creates a beautiful sound on an 1892 Erard piano. When a normal symphony orchestra takes up this version, it is heavy, but Lotto & Les Siecle are transparent without being conscious of the large size of the ensemble. The sparkling sound of the glockenspiel and celesta is especially effective, creating a world full of dreams that is unique to Russian ballet. The entire "Firebird" also recreates the sound of the work when it was premiered at the Paris Opera House a hundred years ago in June 1910, conducted by Pierné. The pitch is not so different, but the strings are gut strings, the brass is fine brass, and the woodwinds and harp are all made in France, following the technique directly from the Paris Conservatory, so the aural impression is quite different. The brass sound is unique. The sound of the brass is unique. The image of Stravinsky's primary colors and thick sound has been renewed, and this is the ultimate in freshness. Glazunov's sound is also suited to the work, and the freshness of the work is numbing. The booklet clearly lists all instruments used except for the strings, making this a valuable resource.
