The queen of viola, Tabea Zimmermann, will release her solo works on Harmoniumundi. This is the first solo release from Harmoniumundi, although Zimmermann has previously released music as a member of the Arcanto Quartet. The contents of this album are a little surprising, as it is a journey from Spain to South America, from Falla and Casals to Villa-Lobos and Piazzolla, but Zimmermann's powerful music is bursting with energy with Perianes on piano, a Spanish pianist who has been performing at a remarkable rate in recent years. Zimmermann's tone is full of knowledge, passion, and intensity. The nostalgic and powerful tone of the melody of "Falla" is a tone that only Tabea Zimmermann could produce. In the Villa-Lobos piece, which is also the title of the album, her viola tone sounds as if it exceeds the power of the human voice. The piano of Perianes, a native of Spain, dryly tightens the music, perhaps the best combination of the two. The richness of Tabea Zimmermann's viola tone, the amount of information, and the eloquence are all overwhelming in this piece. King International
