Doustrac's drawling voice Stephanie Doustrac is a French mezzo-soprano who also studied under William Christie. She is active on the opera and song scene with a wide repertoire. Her new recording, entitled "Sirens" (Sirens in French), a sea monster who captivated sailors with her mythical singing voice, is a collection of Romantic songs by Liszt, Berlioz, and Wagner. Liszt's "Lorelei" is a song about the legend of the Sirens of the Rhine, and Liszt wrote various versions of this song, including one for solo piano. It is a masterpiece with impressive harmony reminiscent of Wagner. Berlioz's Ophelia's Death was first written for solo voice and later arranged for female chorus. The profound world of Wagner's Wesendonck Lieder is also brilliant. The piano's representation of water in these water-related songs varies from composer to composer, and is enjoyable to listen to. Pianist Jourdan studied under Heidsieck and Roger Muraro, and is a virtuoso chamber musician. King International
