In the scene of Orfeo's song in Hades, in which he appeals for the return of his beloved Eurydice, the bass instruments provide a beautiful support to the gentle tones of the basso continuo. Pluto's aria, which is sung after being moved by Orfeo's song, and the chorus of spirits that follows it are also light. This is Charpentier's "Orphée descending into Hades" filled with very poetic beauty. King International
