Description:
Celebrating 75 Years: The Complete Decca Recordings of the Legendary French Pianist, Focusing on French Music 43-CD Box Set Pascal Rogé, the legendary French pianist who was Decca's exclusive artist during the 1970s and 1980s. To commemorate his 75th birthday on April 6, 2026, all his recordings for Decca are being released together. 43-CD Box Set. Roger recorded numerous works for Decca, focusing on music by Ravel, Debussy, Satie, and Poulenc. The set also includes concertos, chamber music, solo pieces, songs, and works by Mozart, Beethoven, Saint-Saëns, and Fauré. Many of these recordings have been difficult to obtain for years. This release further includes two previously unreleased recordings. One is Brahms' Piano Sonata No. 2, previously unreleased due to the lack of a suitable coupling piece. The other is a selection from a work written as a collection of preludes by Japanese composer Takashi Yoshimatsu (born 1953). Furthermore, the recording of Mozart's Piano Concertos conducted by Raymond Leppard is also being released by Decca for the first time. The set includes an intriguing essay by piano music specialist Jeremy Nicholas, along with Roger's recollections about the background of these recordings and his encounter with Decca. Original jacket design. "All things being equal (which they rarely are), Pascal Roger will be the most important pianist since Sviatoslav Richter in twenty years' time." — Gramophone "Roger is the representative of his talented generation, possessing an unshakable clarity in every detail, whatever the tempo" – The Times "No one enters Poulenc's world more deeply than Pascal Roger" – The Penguin Guide "Pascal Rogé is a born, innate virtuoso, and I have yet to discover his technical limits... Rogé possesses a rare 'presence' and charm that instantly captivates audiences. This stems from his performances' grand romantic sweep coupled with astonishing rhythmic vitality. He produces a beautiful tone."And there lies the poetic sensibility unique to the French, with their most delicate sensibilities." (Julius Katchen) ※Please note that even among products advertised as complete recordings, there are rare instances where audio may be missing. Universal Music/IMS
