Esther Yu, a rising star whose fiery passion and technical mastery go hand in hand, presents her second DG release! Violinist Esther Yu was born in the United States and raised in Europe. She began playing the violin at age 4, made her debut at age 8, and was awarded the Grand Prize (European Union Prize for Music and the Arts for Young People) in the junior division of the Wieniawski International Violin Competition. At the age of 16, she became the youngest prize winner at the 10th International Sibelius Violin Competition, attracting international attention. In 2012, she was one of the youngest prize winners at the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition, and in 2014, she made her London debut under the baton of Zubin Mehta. He subsequently performed concertos with Ashkenazy throughout South America and collaborated with him on his Gramophone debut album (481-2157, Sibelius & Glazunov: Violin Concertos), delivering a wonderfully harmonious performance. This long-awaited Tchaikovsky album features a performance imbued with fresh, passionate emotion that is sure to captivate listeners. Universal Music/IMS
