Takahiro Fuchigami a.k.a. TAKDANK is a talented artist from Kagoshima/Amami Islands/Tokunoshima who started his musical career in his teens as an instrumental player with guitar and bass in his hands, and then moved to New York in 2009, where he encountered hip-hop. He has been playing jazz, broken beats, and other styles of music since then. His works under the name of Takahiro Fuchigami, which approach jazz, broken beats, and house, have been released on Ten Lovers Music, a famous UK jazz/crossover label that also releases works by Detroit's Javonntte and Italy's Patrick Gibin, and his unique style has been widely acclaimed. His one-of-a-kind talent and sound have attracted attention both in Japan and abroad. On Your Mark", a full-length album under the name of TAKDANK, is the first release from Jazzy Sport under the full name of TAKDANK. The album is a fusion of instrumental music and beat science, and features a fascinating world of beat instrumental~down-tempo jazz. The warm electric piano chord changes on "Joint" sway comfortably to a lively clap beat, followed by "Developer," a beautifully mellow piano, electric piano, and horns over a groovy, bass-driven beat, and then a percussive, tame boat, Out Of Turf", a percussive and fast-paced boat with organ, piano, horns, and modulated vocals that creates a bedroom funk world, "Game", a laid-back jazz funk beat/groove with organ and electric piano, "Rally", a mellow jazz funk world with a thick groove and waves, and "Rally", a mellow jazz funk world with a thick groove and waves, and "Rally", a mellow jazz funk world that goes around. Rally", "Counterpoint", "AME", "On Your Mark", and "Smoky Jazz Funk", all of which are based around a bass-driven percussive beat and a mellow electric jazz feel. Mark," and the smoky, deep world of "Time Out," all of which are gems of 9TRK. The warmth of the sound and the thrilling vibrancy of the beats meld together to create an album that is a musical experience like watching a movie. The mastering was done by Mitsu the Beats and promises a superb sonic experience. The striking album cover illustration is by Minneapolis-based Nick Dahlen, known for his artwork and illustrations on albums by Ivan Ave and Stimulator Jones, as well as "Hosono House Revisited". This is a special limited product. Comment from the artist The origin of "TAKDANK" started when I visited a pop-up store in Jazzie's Port when I was living in Fukuoka. I visited each time the shop held a seasonal event, checking out the records and deepening my relationship with Mr. die, who is also the designer of Jazzy Sport. There I gave him my sound recordings, and then I continued to give them to him over and over again. These efforts bore fruit and finally led to the release of Jazzy Sport. One day, Mr. die asked me, "What sports are you interested in these days? When I replied, "Basketball," he replied, "Dunking! He replied, "Dunking! From that one word, the name "TAKDANK" was born, although spelled a little differently. The title "ON YOUR MARK" is also a phrase often heard at the starting line of sports and competitions. "On your mark!" -a signal that something is about to begin. The title was chosen to express the energy of that moment. Takahiro Fuchigami a.k.a. TAKDANK Profile TAKDANK Born in Tokunoshima, Amami Islands, Kagoshima Prefecture. TAKDANK picked up guitar and bass in his teens and played in rock, punk, and reggae bands during his high school years. In 2009, he moved to New York, USA. That same year, influenced by a friend, he purchased an analog track recorder and synthesizer and began producing tracks. In New York, he encountered hip-hop, and around the same time, he shifted to track making on a computer. He was particularly fascinated by the grooves of 90's hip-hop and immersed himself in creating drum patterns. Produced hip-hop and IDM soundtracks with guitar and bass, which he had played until then. In 2015, he returned to Japan. He once took a break from music, but resumed production again in 2018. Around 2022, he began to develop a new sound, venturing into jazz and broken beats. In 2024, he released three analog albums within a year on the British label Ten Lovers Music. In 2025, he will further expand his field of expression. (From the manufacturer's information)
