Born in Holland to a Dutch mother and a father of American Indian heritage, Natasha Rogers brings her liberating folk spirit to "Onaida," drawing inspiration from Yoruba spirits, Afro-Cuban rhythms, and her Native American ancestry. She showcases Sensitive to the call of her ancestral drums, she spent several years traveling the Atlantic Black Sea, learning from the great Mandingos and Afro-Cuban percussionists. Her songs, sung in English, Spanish, and Yoruba, are a tapestry of intimate ballads and universal prayers, inspired by dreams, Amerindian poetry, and the Cuban santeria with its ritualistic bata drum beat.
