TomoKatsurada (KikagakuMoyo)’s debut solo album, *Dream of the Egg*, inspired by the 1920s Japanese children’s book *Yume no Tamago*, is finally being released as a 10-inch vinyl record! Inspired by the 1920s Japanese children’s book *Yume no Tamago* (The Egg of Dreams), this mini-album fuses music and visual art to reflect Tomo’s inner world—a world that has undergone numerous “rebirths” amidst the major turning point of 2024. With a drifting sound that evokes dreamscapes and holds a palpable warmth, this is an intensely personal work. The production began with an impulse to “express myself using only what I had at hand.” By deliberately avoiding metronomes and standard tunings, and instead capturing the atmosphere unique to that moment, an organic, warm sound emerged, imbued with uncertainty and improvisation. The recording prioritized a sense of “raw” authenticity over perfection, taking on a handcrafted texture that allows each track to breathe in its own way. British musician and close collaborator Jonny Nash contributes to the album’s opening and closing tracks. His ethereal guitar sound lends a dreamlike depth to the entire work, quietly tying together the story’s beginning and end. Originally released in November 2024 as a limited edition of 500 copies, this work was conceived as a special package combining a 20-page picture book created in collaboration with Japanese artist Shoko Otake with a vinyl record. It sold out immediately and generated significant buzz. This release marks the long-awaited reissue as a standalone 10-inch record. It is a record of rebirth born at the intersection of endings and beginnings, heralding the start of a new chapter for TomoKatsurada. At the same time, it is an album that quietly accompanies each listener’s own “beginning.”
