Featured Album in the September Issue of *Record Arts*! The latest volume in Jun Tsujii’s life’s work: a collection of violin miniatures! After stepping down as concertmaster of the Kyoto City Symphony Orchestra, Jun Tsujii has been active as a soloist, chamber musician (with the My Heart Quartet), and violinist with Ensemble Vega, led by Akira Miyagawa. Jun Tsujii, former concertmaster of the Kyoto City Symphony Orchestra and associate professor at Kobe Jogakuin University, began recording his life’s work—“300 Short Pieces to Pass on to the Next Generation”—in 1997, with plans to compile the recordings into a database alongside out-of-print sheet music. The criterion for the 300 pieces is music that embodies the violin’s inherent “beauty and resonance.” Based on this, he seeks out masterpieces. With this latest release, the first-phase recording goal of 300 pieces has been surpassed. The booklet includes a must-read essay by Professor Tsujii himself, titled “The Unique World of Violin Miniatures: Combining Classical Improvisation and High-Quality Light Music,” as well as detailed commentary on each piece.
