Description:
Sawano Kobo has been working with a number of European piano trios. Hearing his name, he personally sold the work to Miklos Gani, the protagonist of the film. The Hungarian pianist caught Sawano's eye out of his many sales pitches and made his debut in 2017 with "Beyond the Moment" (AS157). In the liner notes by Kitami Hiiragi for that first album, Miklos for Sawano was compared to a "training slot" in professional baseball. The theme of the debut album was standard. The theme was "how far can we shine" with famous songs such as "Kareha" and "Someday Prince will come". In 2019, after leaving the nurturing stage, the first songs to be performed will be original songs and cover songs that are typical of the new generation. (1) is a blues to a piano giant of his own composition. (2) is a club-like song with a fine beat. (3) is a Simon & Garfunkel cover oozing Eastern European pathos. How you perceive (1) to (3)? I think the key to listen to this work is how you perceive these (1) through (3). Even though the moods of the songs are different, they resonate as the naturalistic jazz of Miklos.His own composition (4) is nice and exotic, and Stevie Wonder's (6) is another highlight, with the pianist's melancholic beauty on full display. The last two tracks are standards. How about the motivating (8)? The piano solo (9) leaves a lingering feeling that you have listened to a good album .......
