A Grammy-nominated multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and producer, he is one of the leading figures in the contemporary UK music scene. He has collaborated with artists such as Common, Tom Misch, Lizzie McAlpine, and FKJ, and his talent has been highly praised by Sam Smith and Gilles Peterson. In 2024, he released his major-label debut album, *The Loop*; in Japan, his collaboration with STUTS, “Celebrate,” generated significant buzz, and his concerts in Japan were a huge success. He produced this album without setting any specific rules, prioritizing freedom, experimentation, and authenticity. Recording took place at Abbey Road Studios and his home studio; he first created about 50 demos, refined them, and ultimately recorded 20 tracks over the course of two weeks. From tracks featuring strings reminiscent of John Barry to homages to ’70s soul and funk, dark electronica evoking Björk and Otake, and simple, catchy songs, the album boasts a diverse range of sounds that even surprised the artist himself. As she says, “I was able to express my true self just as I am,” the album is a sublimation of her authentic self into music. “In the past, I felt pressure to live up to others’ expectations and evaluations. But now that I’ve had a child and realized my dream of performing at the Royal Albert Hall, I’ve been able to reflect every aspect of myself in my music without worrying about fear or others’ judgments.
