Originally released in 2016, *ZAPPAtite: Frank Zappa’s Tastiest Tracks* is a compilation put together by his son, Ahmet Zappa, and Joe Travers, the curator of the Zappa family’s tape archive. The track selection provides a well-rounded overview of various periods in Zappa’s career, making this album the perfect introduction to his vast catalog. It features a wide range of material, from tracks on *Freak Out!*, the debut album released in 1966 by The Mothers of Invention—led by Zappa—to works from the late 1980s.
