Released in 2016, *Encore un soir* is a French-language album imbued with deep emotion, produced following the passing of her beloved husband and manager, René Angélil. The title track, “Encoreunsoir,” was made possible by a reunion with Jean-Jacques Goldman—a collaboration Celine and René had long hoped for—and garnered significant attention as their first collaboration in 12 years. The album features contributions from Francis Cabrel and Serge Lama—marking their first joint composition—as well as Jacques Venerouzo, who has been a key figure in Céline’s recent work, and Grand Cor de Malard, a poet highly acclaimed for his work. Furthermore, new talents such as Zaô, Florent Motte, and Mutyne have joined the project, resulting in an album that combines a contemporary pop sound with rich emotional expression. It also includes a cover of Robert Charlebois’s classic “Ordinaire,” a tribute to her hometown of Quebec. In addition to a collaboration with Marc Dupre, the album features “Alaplushautebranche” by Daniel Picard, selected from over 4,000 submissions received via the official website. Imbued with Céline’s determination to move forward while overcoming loss, this album has been highly acclaimed as a deeply moving work in which her life and music are deeply intertwined.
