The Mars Volta’s First Release Since Switching Labels: Live Album “LucroSucio; Unfinished Business” (Red Vinyl) The Mars Volta have moved to Inside Out Music, a progressive rock-focused label under Sony Music, and have released their first release with the label, the live album *LucroSucio; Unfinished Business*. This is their first official live album since 2005’s *Scabdates*. It features selections recorded during their fall 2025 North American tour in support of last year’s studio album *LucroSucio; Los Ojos del Vacio*, released last year. However, these recordings are not merely live versions of new songs. What they performed on this tour were completely reimagined versions that boldly reinterpreted the original songs from the studio album, fully showcasing the band’s unpredictability. Furthermore, they adopted a truly unique approach to the track selection process for this album. Last month, they suddenly launched a mysterious interactive platform on the band’s special website, where they released numerous live recordings from the tour and allowed fans to vote on which takes to include on the album—a fan-participatory process that determined the tracklist. This approach—characteristic of a band with truly unconventional ideas—not only pursues a release method that breaks free from traditional constraints but also serves as an attempt to further expand the creative universe surrounding *LucroSucio;LosOjosdelVacio*. This live recording, which captures The Mars Volta exploring new possibilities for creative expression, documents how their new songs evolved on stage while vividly showcasing their signature overwhelming live performances, improvisational spirit, and ever-evolving approach to expression.
