Released in 2006, Liverpool rock band The Zutons' second album, Tired of Hanging Around. The Zutons are a British rock band formed in Liverpool in 2001. Originally a four-piece, drummer Shaun Payne's then-partner Abbie Harding joined the band after playing saxophone at one of their live shows. Her saxophone added the final touch to their unique sound. The band's name comes from the nickname "Zuton" given to Captain Beefheart's guitarist, Zoot Horn Rollo. Their debut album, Who Killed... The Zutons?, reached number 6 on the UK charts. Their second album, Tired of Hanging Around (2006), featured the hit singles "Valerie" and "Why Won't You Give Me Your Love?", both of which reached number 9 on the UK singles chart.After member changes, they released their third album, 'You Can Do Anything', in 2008. They went on hiatus in 2009 but reunited for a one-off show in 2016, achieving a full-fledged comeback in 2018 for a tour recreating their debut album. Then in 2024, they released their fourth album, 'The Big Decider', their first in 16 years. Produced by Nile Rodgers and Ian Brodie, it reached number 7 on the UK charts. Regarding this album, their second album 'Tired of Hanging Around' released in 2006, songwriter David stated that many of the songs were born from "feelings of self-blame after getting drunk or disappointing someone," heavily reflecting their touring experiences. The track "Valerie" became widely known after Mark Ronson & Amy Winehouse's cover version became a massive global hit the year after its release. Its unique style, combining an unadorned sound with saxophone, made this album a vibrant addition to the UK rock scene of the time.
