Royal Sorrow, a Finnish trio with breakout potential Debut album "Innerdeeps" is a must for all progressive metal fans. Royal Sorrow is a three-piece band based in Helsinki, Finland. The band has an edgy sound, Markus Hentunen's presence and lustrous voice, catchy melodies that instantly draw our attention, low-tuned guitars, electro, and even symphonic elements. Their debut album "Innerdeeps" will be released in September 2025. The band has been performing as Edge of Haze for over a decade, changing their name to Royal Sorrow in 2024, and their signing to InsideOutMusic was an opportunity for the members, who have known each other since childhood, to reacquaint themselves with everything they know about each other, including looks, visuals, and the music itself. They decided that it was time to rebuild everything they knew about each other, including their looks, visuals, and music itself, and decided to change their name. Their debut song under the new name, "Metrograve," was released in October of the same year. A crushing yet hypnotic journey through dystopia, "Metrograve" was inspired by the idea of incorporating rap beats into metal. The band's statement is a strong plea to "fight for what gives you meaning, and not to be trapped in dogmas that others have set up for you. Other songs include "Samsara," a cinematic and catchy song that asks big questions about life, death, and the meaning of life. Gave In" is a raw expression of insecurity and emotional surrender, and the song captures that moment of total domination by a silent, creeping darkness, when giving in feels like the only way out. Markus' vocal performance leaves a strong impression as his voice transforms from a whisper that cannot hide its vulnerability to a meaty scream in the second half of the song.The song is partly inspired by Markus' experience in a guest performance with Vola in the fall of 2024, expanding his vocal expression into more extreme territory and giving the sound new emotional weight and depth. Innerdeeps" is more than just a collection of sounds. It is a work for listeners who seek meaning, catharsis, and deep emotion in their work. This summer, Royal Sorrow will perform at summer rock festivals such as Tuska Festival in their native Finland and ArcTanGent in the UK. In the fall, the band will join label mates Leprous on their "Melodies of Atonement Tour" with Gaate for their extensive debut tour across Europe. Juha Rapanen, the band's guitarist for over 10 years, left the band in June to spend more time with his family. Juha's guitar solo on "Samsara," the last song he was involved in, is a great example of his work. Innerdeeps" is an important step forward for the band. The dynamic riffs and deep melodies are intertwined, and the band tries to explore new territories while keeping the tradition.
