Norwegian progressive metal band = AVKRVST Second album "Waving at the Sky", a prequel to their debut album, tells the story of a desolate soul left behind. Norwegian progressive metal band, AVKRVST. The band was formed around Simon Bergseth and Martin Utby, who had promised to form a band since they were boys. will once again release their second album of phenomenal quality in June 2025. The band left a big mark at the MidWinter Prog Festival in Utrecht, the Netherlands, on January 25. Joining a festival headlined by RIVERSIDE (announced as their only performance in 2025) and featuring THE FLOWER KINGS, RENDEZVOUS POINT, and LESOIR, AVKRVST delivered a performance that received rave reviews from the audience.A video of Simon descending to the floor late in the show to play his stunning guitar at close range to the audience went viral. Then, in the spring, the release of a new album was announced. The first single, "The Malevolent," was released on April 11, and has already garnered attention for its powerful collaboration with HAKEN frontman Ross Jennings, who became label mates with AVKRVST a few years ago and has played with the likes of OPETH Ross became acquainted with label mates AVKRVST a few years ago, and was enamored with the band's unique style that combines elements of modern metal with a nostalgic feel similar to OPETH or PORCUPINE TREE, etc., so he agreed to play with the band and strongly supports them. Following their conceptual debut, "Waving at the Sky," in which a desolate soul left behind lives alone in a hut, away from civilization, and embraces death, "Waving at the Sky" tells a dark and devastating story that inherits all the charm the band had and takes it to the next level. The response to the previous album has been greater than the band could have ever imagined.Since the release of the previous album, the band members have made numerous trips to their lodge of origin in order not to lose sight of themselves while playing shows not only in Norway, but also in England, Germany, and the Netherlands. There, they delved deeply into their musicality and tried various challenges, resulting in the current work, which evolves the band itself in a more original direction. In terms of storyline, "Waving at the Sky" is a prequel to the previous album, "The Approbation," inspired by a gruesome family tragedy.
