Exploding Bracken Thrash Metal to the extreme Up-and-coming Swedish band SARCATOR's 3rd album "Swarming Angels & Flies SARCATOR is a band that rises up in the extreme metal scene with the flames of pure burning metal chaos. Their 2020 self-titled debut, a tribute to their heroes, was praised for its overwhelming, ferocious aggression and old-school style, and was nominated for "Best Rock/Metal Album" at the prestigious Swedish music awards "P3 Guld Awards". This was followed in 2022 by a challenging sophomore effort, "Alkahest," a turning point for the band, which broke free from musical rules, ranging from dark rock, post-punk, noise rock, ambient music, psychedelic music, and experimental music. Continuing their march, the band took the next step by signing with Century Media Records in July 2024. In January 2025, six months after signing, the band will unveil its most intense and ruthless work to date, Swarming Angels & Flies.The album deftly blends the eye-popping radicalism of the self-titled debut and the inspiring musicality of the sophomore effort, "Alkahest," into eight monstrous anthems sprinkled with fierceness. This album opens with (1) "Burning Choir," a 44-minute journey into chaos. For most bands, this would fit into the fast song category, but for them, it's normal mode. The band really kicks into gear with (2) "Comet of End Times". The twin guitar harmonies in the latter half of the song linger on the caustic title track, (3) "Swarming Angels & Flies," which strikes a perfect balance between raw intensity and metal grandeur, as well as originality. (7) "Closure" is a surprisingly instrumental track. Just after calming our spirits, the last song of the set, (8) "Unto Sepulchres," swoops in. The pounding, high-speed riffs and drums drag us down to the depths of hell! Mateo says, "This album is straighter, narrower in focus, and bolder than the last one. In terms of speed and aggression, we pushed our own physical limits with this album. We use fast parts as a tool to evoke aggressive emotions. Listeners may be overwhelmed by the chilling chaos of the music.Of course, the music is as energetic and well-honed as ever! The most aggressive and extreme parts of the songs are highlighted, but with dynamics as well. The CD includes additional cover songs by ANTI CIMEX, SARCOFAGO, and SADUS. Keep an eye on "Swarming Angels & Flies," a deliriously melodic yet unrelentingly brutal album, and on SARCATOR, who are still young and ambitious in their early 20s.
