Having sold over 200 million CDs and records worldwide and as the only artist to achieve seven consecutive No. 1 hits on the U.S. singles chart (Billboard Hot 100), Whitney reached the pinnacle of the pop music scene and established herself as one of the greatest recording artists of all time. At the same time, having grown up singing under the guidance of her mother, Cissy Houston—who was also a gospel singer at a church in their hometown of New Jersey—gospel music was an integral part of her musical identity. The church was always in her heart, and gospel music had a profound influence on her life and career. The album features well-known gospel classics such as “Jesus Loves Me” and “His Eye Is on the Sparrow,” as well as a moving live version of “Bridge Over Troubled Water” (Simon & Garfunkel). It also includes “He/I Believe,” a live recording from her concert at Yokohama Arena in January 1990, at the height of her career! This live recording is drawing significant attention as it is being released in Japan for the first time.
