Klaus Nomi

Description:

The 40th anniversary of the death of Klaus Nomi, the genius who dominated the world in the early 80's. "Simple Man", his second album released in 1983, and his last work. Born in 1944 in Immenstadt (southern Germany) and raised in the former West Berlin, Klaus Sperber loved opera and rock music. He eventually found a place for artistic expression on the local cabaret stage. His look and voice reflected the royalty of the New Wave scene, and he had the vibe of Andy Warhol's Factory (Warhol's studio) period and beyond. He appeared at venues such as Max's Kansas City (a New York nightclub and restaurant) surrounded by friends from the underground scene, where his 1950s science fiction sensibility, sharp black-and-white costumes, and exceptional voice created a unique world. In 1979, at the height of the Berlin era, David Bowie was quick to take notice of the up-and-coming phenom, selecting him as a backup singer for a special on NBC TV's "Saturday Night Live". He selected him as a backup singer for a special program on NBC TV's "Saturday Night Live," and he became the center of attention. In 1980, they released their long-awaited debut single, "Keys of Life," followed by the release of their first album, "Opera Rock," in 1981. The following year, in 1982, they released their second album, "Simple Man. However, by this time, he had already contracted HIV and his body was in a state of complete decline, and on August 6, 1983, he died of AIDS in a New York hospital after 39 years of life. The life of a one-of-a-kind artist was taken from him at the height of his stardom, when records were certified gold, concert halls were intoxicated, and the fashion world was mesmerized by him. Klaus Nomi swept to the top of the charts from 1979 to 1982 and then returned to his home on some other planet. The influence of Klaus Nomi lives on today, though arguably more sporadically than in the dazzling late 1980s, and can still be recognized in some of his creations for Jean Paul Gaultier and Givenchy, as well as in Lady Gaga's wardrobe. Just look at one of the major characters in "American Horror Story: Season 11" and you will remember someone. If you look around the world of advertising, you will notice that his music has been synchronized in countless campaigns in countless countries. To commemorate the 40th anniversary of Klaus Nomi's death this year, Sony Music is reissuing the complete catalog of his official discography. This is his second album and last work, "Simple Man," released in 1983. It contains a total of 12 songs, including operas by Baroque composer Henry Purcell, songs by Renaissance composer Dowland, and a cover of "The Wizard of Oz.
