Elvis Presley 1972 Legendary U.S. Tour 50th Anniversary Live LP 2-CD set "Elvis Live 1972" featuring 30 songs including previously unreleased material is now available. Tickets for each show were sold out. Backed by James Burton, Glenn D. Hardin, Jerry Sheff, John Wilkinson, Charlie Hodge, and the Sweet Inspirations, Elvis gave an outstanding performance of pop, gospel, traditional country, blues, rock, and hit songs. The year 1972 was the climax of his career, with 165 performances. A documentary film, "Elvis on Tour," was also produced to capture the tour on film and was released in November 1972. The film won the Golden Globe Award for Best Documentary Film at the 30th Annual Golden Globe Awards in 1973.To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1972 tour, "Elvis On Tour: Boxset" was released, consisting of 6 CDs of performances and rehearsals at three locations, including many previously unreleased recordings, and a Blu-ray of the film "Elvis On Tour. The analog version released this time is a 2-CD set of excerpts from the 6CDs. It features 30 songs, including previously unreleased material, from live performances at the Hampton Roads Coliseum (April 9), Richmond Coliseum (April 10), Greensboro Coliseum (April 14), and San Antonio Convention Center (April 18).
