A new piano work inspired by Dante's Divine Comedy is now available. Barcelona-born pianist and composer Cira Hernández (1959-) graduated from the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Turin at the age of 16 and studied at the Academia Marshall in Barcelona with Alicia de Larrocha. He also studied music under the tutelage of pianist and composer Felice Quaranta. The pianist is known as an excellent interpreter of Soler, Scarlatti, Bach, and Montpauw, but Hernández, who is also a composer, collaborates with dancers, actors, poets, and plastic artists on various artistic projects, offering recitals and shows where music is in dialogue with other arts The company has presented recitals and shows in which music interacts with other art forms. He has composed solo piano works on poems by Priemo Levi, Alda Merini, Angel Crespo, and others. The work on this album was premiered at the Spanish Library of Congress on March 25, 2021, and is divided into "Hell," "Purgatory," and "Heaven," just as Dante's Divine Comedy is structured.Sira Hernández says of the work: "This work is not intended to describe or give a resonant connection to Dante's enormous poetic work. That would be impossible and absurd. My work is rather a healthy impression of reading Dante... a scent, a formless thing... a fleeting trace left behind in me. It's more like a sound translation of my own deepest inner sensations." This is a work that showcases Hernandez's own personality and talent as a creator to the fullest. Sony Music
