Description:

Unreleased recordings by Henrik Szerling, a treasure of the 20th-century violin world! Szerling’s sublime Bach, brought back to life in high-fidelity sound! The joy of listening intently to his divine performance! The French label “Fondamenta” has relaunched its series “The Lost Recordings”—which restores rare recordings in high-quality sound—under the new label name “The Lost Recordings.” This release features previously unreleased Berlin studio recordings by Henrik Shering, one of the 20th century’s most renowned violinists. Carefully remastered by “Phoenix Mastering” (*), a familiar name in the “The Lost Recordings” series, these recordings—though in mono (except for No. 6, which is in stereo)—vividly convey Schelling’s performance. These recordings date from 1962, right between the 1955 and 1967 recordings in which Henryk Schelling—whose name is synonymous with J.S. Bach’s *Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin*, which are synonymous with his name, this set generously features two CDs filled with valuable, previously unreleased recordings from 1962 to 1963—a period falling precisely between his 1955 and 1967 recordings of the complete works. During this period, Schelling was truly at the height of his career, delivering a Bach of almost divine beauty, a Franck brimming with romanticism and elegance, and a Beethoven characterized by a refined sense of balance—neat and precise yet never losing its lyrical spirit. No matter which piece you choose, you can savor the virtuosity of the 20th-century master, Sherling—making this a must-have for all classical music fans. The performances are breathtaking in their power, despite being recorded in monaural. *“PhoenixMastering” is a proprietary restoration process developed using technology from the French audio manufacturer “Devialet,” enabling the accurate reproduction of analog recordings.
