Legendary Brazilian jazz kings and queens Aiato Moreira and Flora Purim have been captivating audiences with their powerful works and live performances for over 60 years. Flora Purim's 2022 release "If You Will" was just nominated for a Grammy! The two met in San Barranzo and hit it off. Aiart's percussion talents and Flora's classical music background and underground bossa nova taste resonate across several generations through their exquisite fusion. Not only did they collaborate with musical legends such as Miles Davis and Chick Corea, but they also worked on pioneering music with Hermeto Pascoal, etc. While facing numerous challenges, including Flora's arrest and incarceration in 1974, they also worked with friends such as Thelonious Monk and Success came through perseverance and enthusiasm for music, while maintaining close relationships with friends/musicians such as Cannonball Adderley. He has worked with leading musicians such as Wayne Shorter, Jaco Pastorius, Herbie Hancock, Joe Henderson, McCoy Turner, and George Duke, as well as producers such as Olin Keepnews and Greedo Taylor.Although part of numerous venerable ensembles, including the United Nations Ensemble led by Dizzy Gillespie, Aiart and Flora's musical life is a testament to their self-generated innovation and passion for their own craft.
