The first step for the indie-pop craftsman, SYLVAN ESSO's debut album is the pinnacle of song-based electronica in the vein of MUM, PANDA BEAR, and others.The song "COFFEE," which has over 10 million views and uses only the minimum amount of sound, and "PLAY IT RIGHT," which has the catchiest melody of all the songs in the album and moves you with its large scale, are interspersed with respect for their predecessors, and the pop vibes of SYLVAN ESSO's pop wave is engraved on this album. This album is more prominent for its electronica sharpness than for its synth-pop glamour, and I wonder if its reissue will bring it back to the light of day!
