Description:

N.Y.-based jazz bassist Yuki Yamamura releases his debut leader album "View of 124. Yamamura was conscious of balancing the skills and experience he cultivated with local musicians in New York with the Japanese identity he felt after living abroad and temporarily returning to Japan, and the result is a jazz sound that blends the two. This is Yamamura's memorable first album as a leader, and all nine songs on the album are Yamamura's original compositions, recorded in New York. All of the recorded pieces are original compositions by Yamamura himself, and were reconstructed for the piano trio from approximately 300 demo tracks (available on his Instagram) that were recorded genre-less between 2018 and 2023. Junichiro Mataga, an award-winning jazz pianist who has worked with Yamamura in New York, produced and co-arranged the songs, breathing new life into them. Three singles are currently being released digitally via various streaming services. The band's ensemble is superb on "early summer," "Oriental waltz," a song about nostalgia for Japan and the atmosphere of Asian cities he experienced in New York, and "birth," a song composed with a natural seven-beat rhythm in mind and titled after the preciousness of life. Recorded at Acoustic Recording in Brooklyn, New York in March 2024. The members are Junichiro Mataga, a New York-based jazz pianist whose leader album "Sketches" was highly acclaimed by jazz master bassist Ron Carter, and drummer Yosuke Nagayama, who also performs in New York and has played with renowned American drummer Questlove. Recording was done by Peter Karl, engineer for Grammy Award-winning Latin musician Arturo O'Farrill & Latin Jazz Orchestra, and mixing and mastering was done by Akihiro Nishimura, Grammy Award-winning engineer for Gonzalo Rubalcaba's album and engineer for pianist Makoto Ozone. Akihiro Nishimura, who won a Grammy for his work on Gonzalo Barcaba's album and also engineered the pianist Makoto Ozone.<Recorded in New York, all songs on this album are Yamamura's originals. The opening track is a fast and furious (1), followed by a brilliant band ensemble (2), an experimental Latin number (3), a five-beat ballad (4) with a unique chord sense, a song about the atmosphere of Asian town he experienced in New York and his nostalgia for Japan (5), a beautiful title track (6) with the sound of a Fender Rhodes, a blues song reminiscent of Thelonious Monk (7), and a song about the music of the New York Times (8), a song about the music of a man in a hurry. (6), a beautiful title track (7), a blues piece reminiscent of Thelonious Monk (8), a piece composed with a natural sound of seven beats and titled after the preciousness of life (9), a track created with a Lo-fi sampler and reproduced by the band (10), and many other musical styles not only jazz, The album is not limited to jazz, but also includes a variety of musical styles and backgrounds.
