The Juilliard String Quartet celebrates its 75th anniversary with an anniversary album! Since its founding in 1946, the Juilliard String Quartet has embodied the motto of "playing new works as if they were established great works, and great works as if they were new works. The Quartet embodies the motto "to play great works as if they were new works, as if they were established great works, and to play great works as if they were new works. The clarity of sound, the clarity of structure, the beauty of sound, the purity of melody, and the commitment to a common goal are consistent in works from all periods, from Haydn to Warnick. The quartet has been led for half a century by Robert Mann, the quartet's founder, and continues to carry on and develop that spirit even after Mann's retirement, making it one of the world's finest quartets with a rare individuality.This album is the first recording by the newest members, including first violinist Aleta Zulla, who joined the quartet in 2018, and as if to document the monumental milestone of the 75th anniversary, the early 19th (Beethoven), late 19th century (Dvořák) and 20th century (Bartók), Each of these wonderfully vivid and original works are combined on one disc. Beethoven and Bartók have been the quartet's core repertoire since its founding, and during the Mann era, the quartet recorded Beethoven twice and Bartók three times in its entirety, both of which have become milestones in recording history as representative interpretations of the second half of the 20th century. Although the pace of recordings has slowed since Mann's retirement, their 2017 album, which marks the 70th anniversary of their founding, also includes Beethoven's 11th "Serioso" and Bartók's 1st, as if they are trying to reintroduce their main path to the modern world in terms of recording. Dvořák's "America" is perhaps their first new challenge in half a century since the 1967 analog recording from the Mann era, and it is a repertoire that deserves much attention.(1/2) Sony Music
