Verdi (1813-1901)

Description:

The most active baritone singer of the moment, Ludwok Tézier's long-awaited first solo album. A parade of famous arias from Verdi operas! Ludovic Tézier, one of the world's leading baritones, was born in Marseille in 1968. He studied at the Centre National des Arts Lyriques (CNIPAL) and at the vocal school of the Opera House. 1998 he won the "Operalia" vocal competition organized by Domingo. He then began his career at the Opera de Lyon, specializing in Mozart and bel canto roles. Since then, he has appeared regularly and to great acclaim at major opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala in Milan, the Bavarian State Opera, the Vienna State Opera, the Teatro Real, the Royal Opera in England, and the Salzburg Festival. This "Verdi" album is his first solo album and his debut album with Sony Classical; he appeared on Jonas Kaufmann's album "Songs of Flowers - French Opera Arias" released in 2017, where they performed together in a duet from Bizet's "The Pearl Pickers" Was.Verdi composed 28 operas, from his first work "Oberto" in 1839 (after its premiere at La Scala, La Scala's manager, Bartolomeo Merelli, asked him to compose three more operas) to "Falstaff" in 1893. Verdi's operatic history is reflected in the arias selected for this Tesieres album. It begins with works from Verdi's early years, the so-called "galley ship period," including Nabucco (1842) and Ernani (1844). This is his first collaboration with Francesco Maria Piave, an Italian opera scriptwriter who would become very important to him. They went on to produce the famous "Rigoletto" (1851), "Trovatore" and "La Traviata" (1853), which were successful and brought him international fame. And now, the arias from his late masterpieces "Otello" (1887) and "Falstaff" (1893) are included. It is interesting to note that the famous scene from "Don Carlo," "The Death of Rodrigo," is included in both French and Italian versions.Tézier says he grew up in a musical environment "from chansons to Beatles and opera," as he sang Carmen while playing with toys from an early age. His career began in 1998, at the age of 29, when he took a long-awaited award for opera. Although he now has a dignified style, he has been lyrically expressive in both singing and acting since his youth, and his deep, smooth voice, depth of expression, and theatrical skill make him an indispensable singer in Verdi's various baritone roles, full of charm.
