The Vienna Philharmonic celebrates the New Year with the New Year's Waltz and Polka Concert, the first appearance of the 21st century conductor Nelsons. The Vienna Philharmonic's New Year's Concert is held every year on January 1. The New Year's Concert is one of the most famous classical music events in the world, and is broadcast from Vienna's golden Musikvereinsaal to more than 90 countries around the world via TV and radio, reaching 500 million viewers. In 2020, Andris Nelsons, Music Director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Music Director of the Gewandhaus Orchestra, will make his first appearance. Since his first collaboration with the Vienna Philharmonic in October 2010 in Mozart's Symphony No. 33, Dvořák's "From the New World," and other works, he has already performed with the orchestra nearly 80 times and is one of the few conductors who regularly performs with the Vienna Philharmonic.Nelsons, who has performed and recorded all of Beethoven's symphonies in 2017-19 and has been entrusted with the Beethoven Cycle for its anniversary year, has been trusted by many to brilliantly spin the Vienna Waltz and Polka for a new era, Nelsons will spin out the Vienna Waltz and Polka of the new era with flair and intensity. In addition to the standard works such as "The Blue Danube" and "Radetzky March," the program will consist of a variety of thematic works, including Beethoven's 250th birthday, Joseph Strauss's 150th death anniversary, and various anniversaries in 2020, as well as nine pieces that will be performed for the first time at this concert. The concert is full of freshness. The clear video and audio will give you the luxury of enjoying the musical feast that unfolds in the golden hall of the Vienna Musikverein, which is beautifully decorated with many flowers. ＜Andris Nelsons was born in Riga, Latvia in 1978. After working as a trumpet player at the Latvian National Opera, he studied with Mariss Jansons and others.He has served as Principal Conductor of the Latvian National Opera and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, and is currently Music Director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Director of Music of the Gewandhaus Orchestra of Leipzig, Germany.
