Domino is proud to announce the release of the original score to the documentary feature film "Swan Song" by Canadian electro-pop artist Austra! Domino is proud to announce the release of the original score for the Canadian documentary feature film Swan Song by producer, songwriter, and creative force, Canadian electro-pop artist Austra. Swan Song" is a feature-length documentary that takes viewers inside the National Ballet of Canada as it undertakes a new production that defines the legacy of "Swan Lake," which ballet icon Karen Kain directed on the eve of her retirement. Offering a glimpse into her newfound talent, this is Austra's first film score and takes a very different approach from her studio album productions. Drawing on her classical background, the original synth-based score was composed entirely with Juno-106, mellotron, and her voice, providing the sonic textures that make Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake" complete, combining dissonant and harmonious melodies. Of this work, Austra says: "I am very pleased with the quality of the music. Composing 'Swan Lake' was a dream project.My first time on stage was as a child singing in the orchestra pit for the National Ballet of Canada's production of The Nutcracker in the 90s, and my love for Tchaikovsky has continued ever since. With this project, inspired by artists such as Vangelis and Oneohtrix Point Never, I was able to create a deep and textured worldview that traverses the epic music of Swan Lake, almost entirely in electronic score."
