Former Sonic Youth member Kim Gordon releases her second solo album on Matador! Former Sonic Youth member and visual artist Kim Gordon releases her second solo album, "The Collective," on Matador. Recorded in her hometown of Los Angeles, the album follows her 2019 solo debut, "No Home Record," and follows its predecessor with producer Justin Reisen (Lil Yotti, John Cale, Ya Ya Ya's, Charlie XCX, Yves Toumor) for the recording. The album is based on compositions from various musical genres, such as blistering dub sounds and trap that sound like broken equipment, and intuitive word collages by Kim Gordon are reflected in the songs. The album is the result of Kim Gordon's versatile talents as bassist, guitarist, and vocalist for Sonic Youth, an important alternative band that paved the way for a new era in music.
