Gilbert & Ndr Elbphilharmonie Orch
Description:
Alan Gilbert X NDR Elbphil in full swing with mainstream Bruckner In September 2019, Alan Gilbert will become the new Chief Conductor of the NDR Elbphil, opening a new era for this prestigious German orchestra. Gilbert said of his new post: "This is a new chapter in our history together, dating back to 2001, and I feel that now is the most appropriate time. The musicians of the NDR Elbphilharmonie are enthusiastic and passionate about what they do. The musicians of the Philharmonic are enthusiastic and in tune with my ideas and actions. I am looking forward to this musical adventure.Their 2019-20 season opens with a three-week festival titled #SOUNDS LIKE GILBERT (#KLINGT NACH GILBERT in German), beginning with Brahms' Symphony No. 1 on opening night, September 6 and 7, The opening night on September 6 and 7 will feature Brahms' Symphony No. 1, the premiere of composer-in-residence Unsuk Chin, and three of the greatest and most unique American works of the 20th century in one evening: Bernstein's Symphony No. 1 "Jeremiah," Ives' "The Unanswered Question," and Varèse's "America. The season will then continue with Lindberg's "Kraft" and two Shostakovich piano concertos with Yuja Wang, an evening of Haydn at the Reithalle, its former home, two Brahms string sextets with Gilbert as viola player, Beethoven's Symphony No. 7, which celebrates the 250th anniversary of his birth next year, and The season is in full Gilbert mode from the very beginning. The season will also include Verdi's "Requiem" and "My Fair Lady" (Gilvester Concert), and the Hamburg Festival will feature Janacek's "Glagolitic Mass. Gilbert has built up a distinctive discography with the New York Philharmonic, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, and the ensemble of the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, and he will be performing Nielsen's complete symphonies and concertos (the best of his generation! The complete works of Nielsen's symphonies and concertos (the most famous collection of its time!). However, although there is a complete set of Nielsen's symphonies and concertos (the most famous complete set of its time!), most of his recordings are of music of his contemporaries, and there have been only a handful of recordings of Romantic works. In this sense, this disc, Gilbert's first Bruckner, is a must-hear, and the NDR Elbphilharmonie, which has this symphony as its own medicine chest (there are two official recordings on RCA under Wandt, and broadcast recordings with Wandt, Schmidt-Isserstedt, Klemperer, and others), has also made a CD of this work. ). It is also important to note that this is the first recording of the NDR Elbphil after his appointment as Chief Conductor. The first choice of this mutually committed duo was this Bruckner piece. The piece will be performed again during the 2019-20 season in November 2019, which shows the duo's commitment to the work. (1/2) Sony Music
