Wagner (1813-1883)

Description:

Estrada's rapid progress with Sony Classical has begun! The first release is a Wagner album. Andrés Orozco-Estrada, born in Colombia in 1977, is one of the most promising conductors today, having been appointed Music Director of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra for the 2014/15 season. He was also named Principal Guest Conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra in 2015. He is one of the most sought-after conductors of his generation, regularly performing with the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, Vienna Philharmonic, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, and Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and has appeared on BBC Proms. Estrada and the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra make their Sony Classical debut with this Wagner album. In Wagner's later operas, the "leitmotif," a specific motive representing an important character, thing, or idea, is not only used in its original form as the drama develops, but is also transformed in rhythm and pitch while retaining its basic outline, contributing to the organic development and unity of the work.Wagner himself called it "basic music," and similar techniques were used not only widely in his post-Wagner operas but also in his Romantic symphonic poems. He was the first composer to achieve this goal with the unparalleled rigor of turning the orchestra into the protagonist in a drama. The longing for death, the desire for a woman to sacrifice her life out of compassion, the death that results from the idea of love and redemption, while at the same time being heroic. Tristan und Isolde became one of the most influential musical works of the entire 19th century. Moreover, the overture and prelude incorporate its motifs, perfectly alluding to the psychological processes and emotions that are woven into the various pieces. This performance of Estrada presents Wagner as the most innovative and influential composer of music drama of the 19th century. Both recordings were made live at the Rheingau Festival and were recorded at the stone Eberbach Abbey, which is also known for its footage of Paavo Järvi's complete Mahler cycle. The power and realism of the recording, combined with the reverberation and the sense of gravity, are effectively used to express the energetic and passionate flavor of the works. Sony Music
