The second collection of Schumann Lieder by Gerhaherr, winner of the 2019 Opus Classics Award for Male Singers, baritone Christian Gerhaherr is now firmly established as one of the best in the German Lieder world. Inheriting the traditional German Lieder style of Fischer-Dieskau, Gerhaherl dramatically expresses the emotions and inner feelings hidden in the poems, and delivers mature music. The beautifully clear German diction brings out vividly the thoughts and scenes of the composer in each word. This is Gerhaherl's second album following "Questions," the first volume of the "Schumann: The Complete Lieder," his biggest project to date, and the first time since F. Dieskau that a singer has taken the lead in a complete cycle, a project Gerhaherl himself has declared "the most important project in my life. Gerhaherl himself has stated, "This is the most important project of my life. The complete Schumann cycle, which Gerhaherl has previously recorded two Schumann song cycles, is the definitive recording, reflecting the deepening of Gerhaherl's singing in recent years and her even deeper reading of the score.It is a co-production between Sony Classical, the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation, and the International Reader Center of the Spring Festival in Heidelberg. The song cycle "Milte Flowers" is a work that Schumann presented to Clara on the eve of their wedding on September 12, 1840, decorated with milte flowers as "To My Beloved Bride". Milte is a white flower used in bridal decorations and is considered a symbol of luck, love, marriage, the bride, and purity. It is also featured in the final song, "Millete and the Rose," from the previous work, "Leader Rice. The work is filled with Schumann's happiness and love to finally marry his beloved Clara, and 'Schumann has created "one of the most wonderful gifts bestowed from a loving heart," not in a picture-book style, but as "a visionary story that two lovers have been waiting and longing for." Gerhaher said.
