Hailing from Pennsylvania, LilPeep—a young, charismatic rapper who passed away on November 15, 2017, at the young age of 21—had such a profound influence that *The New York Times* dubbed him “the Kurt Cobain of the hip-hop scene.” . LilPeep grew up on Long Island, New York, and moved to Los Angeles at age 17 to launch his career in earnest. He began posting numerous tracks on YouTube and SoundCloud while still in high school, releasing four mixtapes and five EPs by 2016. His introspective, sentimental lyrics, a unique sound blending hip-hop, rock, and dream pop, and immense support from teenagers—primarily on SoundCloud—earned him nicknames like “Cloud Rapper” and “Emo Rapper.” He garnered so much attention that media outlets around the world hailed him as “the Kurt Cobain of the hip-hop scene” “the future of emo,” garnering significant attention as a prodigious talent. In August 2017, he released his long-awaited debut album, *Come Over When You’re Sober, Pt. 1*. It garnered significant support, peaking at No. 3 on the Alternative Albums chart and No. 16 on the Hip-Hop Albums chart, but on November 15, 2017, while on tour, he died of an overdose at the young age of 21. Following his untimely death, numerous artists in the music industry—including Sam Smith, Diplo, Mark Ronson, and Marshmello—paid tribute to him. This album serves as Lil Peep’s posthumous work and is a sequel to his previous album, *Come Over When You’re Sober*. Although many notable singles were released posthumously—such as “Falling Down,” a collaboration with XXXTentacion (who tragically passed away in June 2018) that reached No. 13 on the U.S. singles chart, and “Sunlight on Your Skin” featuring iLoveMakonnen—this album also features his introspective and sentimental lyrics and his “emo-rap” sound—influenced by and featuring samples from 90s and 00s alternative rock and emo—that pierce deep into the listener’s ears. Even after his death, the late Lil Peep—a leading voice of emo rap who continues to profoundly influence artists and listeners worldwide with his sound and message—has drawn significant attention to this long-awaited posthumous album.
