Description:
Saxon, the immortal NWOBHM band, formed in 1977 and made their debut in 1979 with the album "SAXON". Last year marked the 40th anniversary of their debut, and the band released a live anthology and continues to lead the scene with their energetic activities. Biff Byford, the frontman of the band that embodies NWOBHM and a true heavy metal poet, has completed his first solo album at the age of 69! The album is packed with tough, hard-hitting British rock sounds and hard-hitting lyrics that tell stories not only from his heart and the soil that nurtured him, but also from the history of the Middle Ages, and it is a true British heavy metal sound! SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS" is sure to be one of the biggest entertainment impacts of 2020 and a powerful hard rock album. Produced by Biff Byford himself, the album was recorded at Brighton Electric Studios with Jacky Lehmann as engineer, and produced at Queens Street Studios in Stockholm with Matts Valentin as mixer. This solo debut album was recorded at Queens Street Studios in Stockholm with Jacky Lehmann as engineer and Matts Valentin as mixer. To support one of the best vocalists in Biff Byford, Fredrik Åkesson (g) from Opeth, Christian Lundqvist (dr) from the Swedish hard rock band THE POODLES, and Gus Makriskosta (b) from Greece were assembled. The band has assembled to deliver the most hard rockin' sound. Phil Campbell (MOTORHEAD), Nick Barker (ex-VOICES), Alex Holzwald (ex-Rhapsody of Fire), and Dave Kemp (ex-WAYWARD SONS) also participate as guests, adding their talents to his first solo album. This "SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS" rings with beautifully constructed classic old school British hard rock. The album's opening track, "Welcome To Our Show," was released last October, and Biff's overwhelming vocals exploded over the powerful, hard-hitting British rock sound, and old fans around the world applauded this sound source, which was released under his solo name. Other songs on the album include "Inquisitor," in which Biff tells an oral story in the form of spoken words; the metallic "The Pit and Pendulum," about the Spanish Inquisition; and the autobiographical "The Pit and Pendulum," a song with an old school sound like Saxon's 1980 album, "Wheels of Steel. The title track "School of Hard Knocks" (video clip was released last December) and 11 other songs (10 songs on the analog version) are included on the album, exposing all aspects of Biff Byford.
