Agaetis Byrjun", the monumental work that introduced the world to Sigur Rós, has been reissued as a double vinyl set of analog LPs that faithfully reproduce the original packaging of the original release. Icelandic post-rock band Sigur Ros. Their world debut album, "Agaetis Byrjun", released in 1999, was acclaimed as "the last great album of the 20th century" by Q Magazine and "the first important band of the 21st century" by Pitchfork. Recorded at the band's Sundlaugin studio in Iceland, "Agaetis Byrjun" is their second album in total. Produced with producer Ken Thomas, the album reached the top of the charts in Iceland and was well received by critics. The album was released by Fat Cat Records in the U.K., U.S., and Europe.The album was critically acclaimed by the music media, reaching #2 on Pitchfork's 2000 annual chart. The album was later named #8 on Pitchfork's "200 Best Albums of the 2000s" and #29 on Rolling Stone's "Best Albums of the 2000s" list. The album also features the song "Svefn-g-englar" in the movie "Vanilla Sky" and "Staralfur" on the soundtrack of the movie "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou". As the album title implies, "A Good Beginning", the album is being reissued on vinyl as a 2-CD heavyweight set, recreating as much as possible the original packaging of the original release on Fat-Cat Records and Smekkleysa. It will be reissued in analog format on two heavyweight vinyl sets, reproducing the original packaging as much as possible.
