To celebrate the numerous album awards won worldwide by Fatma Said, a young soprano born in 1991, her debut album *El Nour* is being released as a limited-edition LP! Born in Egypt, Saeed began taking singing lessons at age 14. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from the Hans Eisler School of Music in Berlin in 2013 and received high praise in 2016 for her performance as Pamino in *The Magic Flute*, conducted by Adam Fischer. That same year, she won first prize at the 8th Veronica Dan International Vocal Competition and was selected as one of BBC Radio 3’s “New Generation Artists,” gaining international recognition. In Egypt, she is widely active as a “soprano of outstanding talent” and has received an honorary award from the National Council for Women in Egypt. Her debut album brings out the full extent of her charm. The album title, “ElNour,” means “light,” and its purpose is to shed light on works rooted in diverse cultures, geographies, and histories, bringing to the surface a shared spirit. The album features a captivating selection of songs with an oriental atmosphere, ranging from Ravel’s “Scheherazade” and pieces from zarzuela to French and Spanish songs, as well as works by Egyptian composers and folk songs. Sung with her sweet, beautiful voice and effortlessly switching between Arabic, French, and Spanish, these art songs are utterly captivating. Said’s rich talent is fully on display. Furthermore, by incorporating the ney—an Arab and Middle Eastern flute—into pieces by Ravel and Bizet, in addition to Egyptian music, she creates a unique atmosphere. This debut album has received high acclaim and won awards around the world—including two categories for Best New Artist at the BBC Music Magazine Awards—and her name is becoming known globally.
