It could be said that this album, "THE MYTH...", combines experimentation with a spark of good old Biffy. The song "DumDum," built around soft synths sampled from Simon's voice, is one that could be a major new departure for the band's sound. The closing track, "Slurpy Slurpy Sleep Sleep," like "Cop Syrup" from "A CELEBRATION...," can be described as a bold closer to close the album. The ferociously angry "A Hunger In Your Haunt," the arena-class dramatic number "Errors In The History of God," and the overwhelmingly catchy "Witch's Cup" will surely be a hit with rabid fans. The album is preceded by the epic "Unknown Male 01," which runs six minutes. With an emotionally vulnerable intro that builds to a turbulent crescendo with a swirling riff, the song is packed with every aspect of Biffy Clyro's character, but lyrically, it is about a friend who took his own life. The album is a true journey, a collision of all the thoughts and emotions of the past 18 months. A CELEBRATION..." expresses true fortitude, but the album also embraces the vulnerability of being a band and being human in this twisted time of life. The title is also the opposite of (the previous album).I'm asking the question, are we creating these stories in our own minds just to feel safe when no one knows what's waiting for us at the end of the day?") says Simon about the album. THE MYTH OF THE HAPPILY EVER AFTER" is the counterpart to "A CELEBRATION...". A new page has been added to Biffy Clyro's story. The CD included with the analog LP includes a live performance of "A CELEBRATION OF ENDINGS" at the Barrowland Ballroom in their hometown of Scotland. This will be another pleasant surprise for fans.
