A new interpretative performance that brings out the differences that make it hard to believe that Schubert's work was composed in the same year. 1984, Korean-born pianist Im Dong-hyuk. He has won many competitions, including the International Chopin Piano Competition, and is a spectacularly talented young pianist. He released his first album produced by Argerich at the age of 18, and since then, he has appeared at the "Argerich Music Festival" and has earned the strong trust of Argerich. The two sonatas from Schubert's last years are so different from each other that it is hard to believe that they were written in the same year. The powerful and plaintive No. 20, with its dark second movement, reveals a momentary glimpse of darkness, but overall it is full of Schubert's improvisatory melodies with a shimmering touch. The first movement, with its ever-changing melodies, the bouncy third movement, and the impressive fourth movement with its extended melody, all show a healthy and youthful Schubert that can be listened to with ease. In contrast, the ambiguous opening of No. 21, which seems to be rising out of the haze, gives the impression of something unsettling.But that is only until the sad second movement. From the third movement, a play of sound that will leave a lasting impression on your ears. Overall, a hopeful, energetic, and youthful Schubert image has been created. Warner Music Japan
