Darfito Orlowski's first release with Warner Classics is a duo album that develops into a unique development with the lute! Born in 1981, Darfito Orlovski began playing clarinet seriously at the age of 13. At first, he specialized in classical and contemporary music, but gradually became interested in jazz and started playing in a trio. His jazz music is a mixture of classical, klezmer, hot club, jazz, and Middle Eastern folk music, and his new style, which transcends genres, has been very popular in many countries. His albums for Sony Classical have been bestsellers in Germany and elsewhere. Darfit Bergmüller is an Austrian-born lutenist. After studying guitar at the Tyrol State Conservatory, he fell in love with the lute at the age of 18 and studied with Rolf Lislevand.In 2017 she won the Franz Aumann Prize at the International H.I.F. Biber Competition in St. Florian, and since 2018 she teaches at the University of Music and Dance Cologne. The title of their album, "Alter Ego" (Alter Ego), refers to a separate personality. In philosophy, it means the other ego (the ego of another person). In Japanese, it often refers to a person in the arts and entertainment (especially music) who is intentionally created and performed as a different personality. In this album, it seems to mean both close personal associations and different personalities. Darfito Orlowski and Darfito Bergmüller are good musical friends and colleagues, but they could not be more different. They come from different musical traditions, and there is no historical reference to the combination of these two instruments (clarinet and lute). When Orlowski first discovered a video of Bergmüller performing on the Internet, he was unaware that he had encountered his musical alter ego. Later the two met in Berlin and after some shared notes decided to make music together.They first became companions, which became a duo, and the duo eventually became an organism. Within this organism, the two Darfites function as opposing and complementary personalities. Together they embark on a journey into the unexplored world of sound. The clarinet is the voice of a bygone era, while the lute combines to create a polyrhythmic structure that allows both the new and the old to flow together in their original configuration. Baroque pieces by Henry Purcell, John Dowland, Giovanni Girolamo Kapsperger, and others, as well as creative subjects, are then transformed into their own unique music, incorporating jazz and the klezmer style he is known for.
