Alexandre Tharaud has selected about 50 famous film music tracks from over 60 years of film history and performed them with his thoughts on film music on the CD album "CINEMA". From this CD album, Alexandre Tharaud selected 15 songs, mainly solos by Tharaud, and released them in limited quantities as analog LPs. Alexandre Tharaud's relationship with film music is deep and wide-ranging. The album "CINEMA" features about 50 well-known film scores from over 60 years of film history, by composers from all over the world. Among them are Michel Legrand, John Williams, Nino Rota, and Philip Glass. The songs on the album, most of which are original versions, "create a sound world that is as thrilling as the film itself," says Tharault. As a child, I was lazy and quickly finished my piano studies, and from the age of five, I enjoyed improvising to familiar music, such as film music from the TV at my grandparents' house. As a youngster, I played live accompaniment to many silent films.In silent films, you have to play all the time without the audience noticing, so I learned how to come up with music that doesn't get in the way. I also had to exaggerate certain sequences to make the characters more or less likable, to make the audience laugh or cry. These experiences gave me a better understanding of what film music is all about.
