Joyce DiDonato

Description:

Joyce DiDonato, a two-time Grammy Award winner, is one of the finest mezzo-sopranos of our time from the United States. She is an American diva who is very popular for her overwhelming vocal ability, astonishing technique, gorgeous stage presence, and modern social networking presence. She has performed at the Metropolitan Opera, the Royal Opera House, and other world famous opera houses. It is still fresh in our minds that she sang the role of Elvira in "Don Giovanni" at the Royal Opera in Japan last year and captivated the audience. Her new album is a collection of arias from baroque operas, including world premiere recordings, based on the concept of "War and Peace. This is her most personal project, and one that reflects her desire to explore in song "how we can find peace and harmony in this chaotic world. The album is divided into two sections, subtitled "War" and "Peace" respectively. The "War" section contains the well-known mournful songs such as "When I Lay Down in the Ground" and "Let Me Weep," while the "Peace" section contains brave and joyful songs such as "Why Do Men Fight? and "The Ship Broken by the Storm" are sung with courage and joy. You will also be entranced by rarely heard works by Yommelli and Leo. Of course, all of the arias are sung with great heart and soul, but the most famous one, "Let me weep," is sung in a way that only DiDonato can do. I wonder if anyone has ever sung this song in such a way to make the listener weep so much! In the Baroque era, the voice was also a musical instrument. Singing a baroque aria requires not only a high level of expressiveness but also superb technique to sing dizzying passages one after another. In this respect, she, who originally gained fame as a Rossini singer, is a master of any superb technique. She sings every passage perfectly. The accompaniment of Il Pomo d'Oro (conducted by Maxim Emelianichev), which has been attracting particular attention among period instrument ensembles in recent years, supports her singing and plays the music with great flexibility. This Prayer for Peace project . This Prayer for Peace project asks the world, through the songs of baroque works, what we can do for peace in the chaotic world we live in in 2016. -What are you doing to find peace? How do you find peace in your heart? " - * Track 5, "Handel: 'Giulio Cesare' - Figlio non e'...Cara Speme" is a bonus track on the LP version only. Warner Music Japan
