Prokofiev and Weinberg experienced persecution from the authorities, and their works reflect not only the concessions they made to repressive doctrines, but also their opposition to them. History gave them justice and stood the test of time with the true beauty of music. Freed from the ideological conditions of those dark times, their works captivate audiences around the world. While Prokofiev's reputation has been established for decades, Weinberg is now widely regarded as the third greatest Soviet composer, along with his close friends Shostakovich and Prokofiev, and more recently as the renaissance of Polish music in particular.Weinberg: Symphony No. 5" is said to have been inspired by Shostakovich's Symphony No. 4. Weinberg also says that his masterpiece "Prokofiev: Symphony No. 5" was intended to express "the greatness of the human spirit.
