Description:

A rising star on the viola, David Aaron Carpenter, born in New York in 1986, is one of the hottest young viola players in the country, winning the 2006 Naumburg Viola Competition and performing in some of the most prestigious concert halls in America. She studied under Pinkus Zuckerman and Yuri Bashmet. He has been praised by Eschenbach as "an astonishingly convincing and highly charismatic performer," and his performances with him have been highly acclaimed worldwide. He has released four albums on the "Ondine" label. On his first album with Warner, he performed Piazzolla, Alexei Shaw, and Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons" on viola with a superb and astonishing technique that made it seem as if he were playing the violin. And this second Warner album, "Longing for Home... A tribute to their native music, folk music, and languages," and includes works that incorporate the music of each composer's home country. The famous "Dvorak: Cello Concerto" will be performed this time on viola! Joseph Wieland, violist with the New York Philharmonic and author of many viola books, has already published a score for viola, but Carpenter has further revised it for this performance. The viola has a tone and sound that the cello has often failed to achieve. Dvořák himself was a viola player, so he was able to bring out its unique sound," Carpenter said. With Kazushi Ohno conducting the Dvořák and Vladimir Jurowski conducting the Bartók and Walton, the orchestra is well-prepared to play these viola masterpieces. Warner Music Japan
