Description:
Deanna Damrau and Jonas Kaufmann. The two artists of the moment will perform Wolff's "Italian Songs," which Wolff himself described as "the most original and the most artistically perfect of all my works. The "Italian Songs," which Wolff himself described as "the most original and the most artistically accomplished of all my works," consists of 46 songs, but each song is relatively short, and by freely rearranging the order of the songs, one can create "scenes of love" as if they were operas. This is a work that is called "The Love Scenes". Because of this, the perfection of the songs is left to the skill of the singers. Damrau and Kaufmann gave a total of 12 recitals in six European countries in February 2018 with this song cycle together with the renowned pianist Helmut Deutsch, with whom Kaufmann has collaborated for many years. In this live recording of the recital in Essen, Damrau's beautiful voice captures the nuances of the words perfectly, Kaufmann's strong voice carefully weaves the complex nuances unique to Wolff, and Deutsch carefully traces the complex calligraphy of the piano part to bring out each song. Doitsch carefully traced the intricate writing of the piano part and succeeded in enhancing each song. Warner Music Japan
